Green Resources

This section is a work in progress, so bear with me. The idea here is to have a spot in the middle of the site to share a little of what goes on behind the scenes. It’s always nice to see a construction project come to an end; but in my opinion, it’s even nicer to see CRI Green Label (a requirement for carpet in LEED Projects) in the list as that ensures we are not exposing students, staff & faculty to unnecessary carcinogens. Knowledge is power, but it didn’t happen if you can’t click LIKE or Share!

  • Green Buildings
I hope to include a list of each of the specific green choices that went into our new facilities and a photo walk around; as time permits.
  • Calendar / Links
A calendar of green events for ARC and a list of Los Rios related sustainability links. If your link is missing from this list, please let us know as the whole point of this site is to share what’s going on around us.
  • Digital Posters
From recycle & compost posters to ones that remind people to turn off the lights for your printing or sharing needs.
  • Email Subscription
Stay in the loop and know when new posts are made.
  • Campus Map
This Google map will have all the green efforts highlighted on our campus enabling you to take a virtual green tour of ARC.

go ahead, click it to practice! =)

Previous Green Tips….

Unplug it!

When electric items are not in use – unplug them!  “Phantom Electricity” costs consumers hundreds of dollars per household per year.

From myPower at Berkeley…

For every 200 kWh reductions you help achieve, it’s the same as saving 15 gallons of gas, that’s one fill-up! How can you reduce 200kWh? Two ideas: turn off the hallway lights every night for three weeks or eliminate a laser printer.
