We need your Instagram / Facebook / Twitpic photos on Friday!! Stop by the American River College campus near 95841/95608 on Friday 12/14, see the project and help us document it. We are hoping to increase awareness of the overuse of plastic bags by increasing participation in this unique large scale public art installation.

An update from the CHESC CCC Student Forum:
http://www.facebook.com/groups/446959375328631/

Hello everyone. :) I just wanted to give a brief update on my resolution to establish a Community College Green Fund/Sustainability Fee. I just got word back from the Resolutions Chair for the state-wide student government (SSCCC) that my resolution is solid, and it's ready for the General Assembly (GA). super stoked! :D If my resolution is passed at GA, then that shows that all community colleges show support and the SSCCC will attempt to pass it as official state legislation.

Congratulations Quierra--keep up the great work! This will help community colleges in all of California get funding to move forward with many many needed projects. Way to go!!

Don, you are so right! It was an awesome conference and offered such interesting sessions it was sometimes hard to make a decision which on to attend. There is much to bring back to our campus and bookstore, to the student government, and to on-campus food service. I have samples of some items to share and hope to see some of them become standard.

I think our sustainability sub-committee has a lot to work with now, and as you say, we don't have to reinvent the wheel. There are many resources available, and it will be great to tap into them.
